Job Summary
The Assistant Controller maintains the corporation's accounting/financial reporting functions and supervises accounting for all transactions related to the general ledger such as receivables and payables, tax payments, and prepaid expenses. Additionally, the individual will oversee the company-wide budgeting and reporting process and assists managers in the financial planning process and management of financial results.

Essential Responsibilities:
  • Ensures departmental budgets are in alignment with the overall business strategy
  • Lead definition of reporting and financial dashboards
  • Prepare and analyze financial statements and reports, post journal entries, ensure timely and accurate reporting and compliance with appropriate accounting standards
  • Responsible for development and maintenance of accounting policy and procedure manual
  • Analyze budgets and forecasts on a periodic basis
  • Assist with year-end closings
  • Assist in preparing and review of month-end closing
  • Assist with implementation and monitoring of system of internal controls to ensure accuracy of financial statements
  • Manage revenue recognition policies and practices
  • Commissions review
  • Analysis of financial metrics
  • Define and implement policies/programs and analyze the effectiveness of the policies to establish future improvements
  • Advanced cash management/cash flow
  • Bank reconciliation
  • Daily operations including AP and AR, processing payroll
  • Prepare, coordinate and manage quarterly reviews and annual audits by outside public accounting firm
  • Assist VP, Finance with special projects as required
Qualifications:
  • Bachelor's degree in Finance or Accounting
  • 5+ years experience in financial analysis or in as an Assistant Controller or equivalent
  • Demonstrated knowledge of GAAP and FASB with the ability to apply them
  • Demonstrated ability to understand and apply advanced knowledge of accounting concepts, practices and procedures in financial analysis
  • Ability to implement best practices and address complex problems
  • Self starter good organizational and communication skills
  • Must be able to take on responsibilities and have strong follow through on both small and large tasks
  • Flexibility within a fast-paced changing environment
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills (written & verbal) in dealing effectively with internal and external customers required
  • Ability to interact with all levels of management
  • Strong Quickbooks and Excel skills required
  • Experience with MS Office Applications (Excel, Word, Outlook, PowerPoint) required
