Essential Responsibilities:

The Installed Base Sales Representative (IBSR) is responsible for after-market sales of the add-ons extensions and professional services to the company’s growing base of customers. You will accomplish this through a combination of inbound and outbound selling activities, supported by the company’s marketing department.

The IBSR needs to understand enough about the company’s software application to understand how and where the add-ons and extensions benefit the end-user customer. You will need to learn the basics of the core product, and become an expert on the various add-ons and extensions so that you can proficiently demonstrate how they work.

In addition to processing incoming inquiries coming directly from customers via phone and e-mail, you will also manage and maintain the content of the “Autotask Store,” which is a new area inside the product itself that describes the add-ons and extensions available for you to sell. You will also be expected to systematically work through the company’s internal CRM system, customer-by-customer, to identify potential prospects for additional sales based on what they already have, how long they’ve been a customer, number of users, and additional service information that may be available. You will work with the marketing department to create outbound lead generating programs designed to educate customers and stimulate their interest in your offerings.    

Specific duties of the IBSR include:

  • Rapidly responding to all incoming sales inquiries from existing customers.
  • Mining the installed base, creating new after-market sales opportunities.
  • Being able to effectively demonstrate our various add-ons and extensions.
  • Understanding our range of professional services offerings, and passing along Pre-Qualified Selling Opportunities to the company’s professional services team.
  • Building a pipeline of future opportunities, and following up on older inquiries that still may be in the pipeline.
  • Monitoring activity in the Autotask Store and working with the marketing department to optimize activity through it.
  • Collaborating with the professional services team on a regular basis to keep abreast of new offerings.
  • Must maintain accurate and timely contact activity data in our sales automation tool, and produce accurate weekly pipeline and forecast reports.    

To succeed the IBSR must be flexible, be able to work in concert with the Marketing and Professional teams, be able to discipline yourself to make the calls and follow up in an organized professional manner.

Qualifications:  

You must have experience working in a sales/telemarketing environment. Able to function both independently and in a team atmosphere, appreciate aggressive goals, and have excellent organizational/time management skills are also desired. Familiarity with IT Services, Managed Service Providers, and/or outsourced IT Consultant a major plus.

  • Must possess a positive, professional phone demeanor; superior communication skills.
  • Must have high aptitude for learning and must be self-driven in a high opportunity environment.
  • Proven communication skills and working relationships with sales teams.
  • 4-year college degree preferred.
  • Ability to multi-task.
  • Minimum of 2-3 years inbound and/or outbound telemarketing/tele sales experience.
