Autotask Technology
Autotask Corporation employs a variety of measures to insure the privacy and reliability of Autotask applications and data. Below are some of the key components of our technology platform that make Autotask secure, reliable and responsive.
Data Center
Autotask is hosted at TW Telecom, a leading, carrier-grade Internet Service Provider located in Albany, NY. TW Telecom is a leading fiber optics, facilities-based integrated communications carrier providing managed network services specializing in Ethernet and Transport Data Networking. TW Telecoms SONET-based networks include 100% fiber optic, fully redundant, self-healing digital rings.
Power Infrastructure
Geographically diverse power feeds utilizing separate entry points into the building.
Conditioned and unconditioned UPS power connectivity to separate power systems.
Backup generator capable of supplying 7 days worth of power during an emergency
event.
Building Access and Security
Secure building access is guaranteed though the use of multiple layer access systems.
Biometric access is required at all building entry points. Access control systems,
monitored surveillance and onsite personal further monitor and protect building
access.
Environmental Controls and Protection
n+1 HVAC units maintain stable temperature and humidity using monitored controls.
Integrated fire detection and monitoring systems directly linked to local emergency
response. FM-200 fire suppressant system capable of extinguishing flames without
damage to equipment.
Network
Connectivity
Carrier diverse backbone uplinks to Tier1 providers such as Level3 insure continued
connectivity. Fully redundant carrier-class edge routers powered by Cisco Systems
utilizing public BGP routing. Accelerated content delivery using Akamai’s EdgePlatform
Network for increased performance.
Performance
Enterprise caching and load balancing devices are employed to improve application
performance and provide network filtering.
Security
Autotask employs state-of-the-art security to ensure that customer data is never
compromised. Authorization and authentication are required at all levels of Autotask
applications and services, and all Autotask functions are restricted to known and
privileged users. Access to specific areas of Autotask is restricted further through
user profile and license management. Autotask uses 128-bit SSL data encryption for
all data communications, insuring that customer data is never compromised. Data
is further secured by use of separate, dedicated databases for each customer. The
Autotask network perimeter is protected by industry leading security appliances
that inspect all traffic through Layer 7 filtering and are configured to monitor
and safely protect from all forms malicious attacks. As a result, customer data
is highly secure.
Infrastructure
Servers
Autotask operates on a server farm that is continuously updated and augmented, insuring
maximum performance and capacity. Autotask has implemented redundancy throughout
the hardware and software components in use in our production environment. Redundant
power, storage, CPU and network interfaces are in use on all production servers,
as well as backup servers.
Storage
We use fiber channel SAN’s to ensure reliable storage and fast performance, with
excellent scalability. This provides flexible and resizable storage to meet your
needs, as well as advanced data protection and quick recovery capabilities.
Backup
Bullet-Proof Backup and Disaster Recovery
Incremental production storage backups are performed hourly, and full file system
backups are performed nightly, providing a maximum loss window of 59 minutes in
the event of a catastrophic failure. Off-site backups are stored to insure continuity
in the unlikely event of a total loss.
Monitoring
Autotask employs state-of-the art monitoring to provide health and performance analysis.
Our monitoring technology is comprised of hardware and software agents, applications
and utilities – designed to provide early warning notifications – and initiate pre-defined
corrective actions or trouble-avoidance procedures and processes when thresholds
are reached.
