Autotask to Host Twitter Chat on the Internet of Things

Few concepts have so strongly (and consistently) dominated conversation within the tech industry as the Internet of Things, or IoT. In fact, the 5th Annual IoT Day is Wednesday, April 9, 2015. But despite its popularity, there is still debate about what it means to businesses, particularly managed service providers (MSPs), and the role Big Data plays in it. 

Autotask Corporation is tackling this issue head-on in its next Twitter chat. Jason Lehr, director of technology and infrastructure at Autotask, will host the discussion via @Autotask on Wednesday, April 9, 2015 at 10 a.m. ET. Tweets will be tagged with #AutotaskChat, and the conversation will feature commentary from MSPs, thought leaders and technologists.  

Jason (@AutotaskJason) will address IoT as it pertains to Big Data, scalability and MSPs, including: 

• Is there a security threat associated with IoT? 
• What do MSPs need to know about IoT?
• What role does Big Data play in IoT?  

 “Many people hear ‘IoT’ or ‘Big Data’ and instantly think of enterprise companies or consumer applications,” said Lehr. “But that isn’t always the case. Many MSPs use IoT and Big Data now – just at a smaller scale from what is being talked about in the media. For instance, a MSP that manages kiosks across multiple locations is responsible for ensuring those machines are interconnected and that all the data created by them is collected and managed. The key is to ensure that any systems implemented by MSPs are scalable and equipped to handle varying amounts of data generated over the course of the relationship.”
