World Backup Day - Have you taken the pledge?

March 29, 2018

World Backup Day is Saturday, March 31. Have you taken the pledge to back up your data yet? The World Backup Day website shares these stats to compel you to back up your data:

  • 113 phones are lost or stolen every minute (computers aren’t the only thing that need backing up these days!)
  • 1 in 10 computers are hit with a virus every month
  • 29% of disasters are caused by accident
  • 30% of people have never backed up their data

So, take the pledge and backup your critical data (whether it’s mission-critical data for your business or photos from your last vacation) today. For your business, tools like secure file sync and share, endpoint backup and a remote monitoring and management solution will get you off to a good start.

And while we’re discussing the importance of backing data up, we’d like to remind you about ransomware and how it has become a very real problem for the IT channel. In fact, from November 2016 to November 2017 ransomware spiked a jaw-dropping 90%. Backing up your data is a critical step to ensure its safety and security in the event of an attack, whether it’s ransomware, a coffee spill or device failure. See more about the risks of ransomware and how MSPs are dealing with it in The State of the Channel Ransomware Report

Bottom line: Please take the pledge on March 31 and start making backup more than an annual to-do, make it a daily to-do.
